BIOGRAPHY
Paul Lawrence has been involved in visual arts since the age of 8, when he received his first camera. Paul moved to San Francisco in the mid 60’s to study filmmaking and became involved in the Art Film Underground working with such people as Bruce Connor and Will Hindle. Paul is an award winning filmmaker and photographer. He is a Director member of the Director’s Guild of America. His films have been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, in theaters and on television around the world. Paul now works as a Digital Artist in the emerging world of 21st Century Pictorialism.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I have chosen to work in the area of 21st Century Pictorialism. My goal is to communicate story by exploring imaging in a new arena, one which is as different from photography as watercolor is from oil.
